Abstract
Tourist guides are an essential aspect of travelling made to help users navigate while simultaneously providing information. As travelling becomes more common the variety in travel motivations of tourist similarly increases. Catering to each of these needs can be strenuous and compromise the integrity of the tourist industry and representations of place. This project aims to assess whether there is a method to generate automated tourist guides which can not only provide different varieties of tourists with the information they require, while ensuring the guides create accurate representations of the settlement in question. By querying the Gazetteer for Scotland’s extensive database this project formulates a method utilising Python and LaTeX to generate guides automatically for both local and regional tourists. These are compared to previous work accomplished on the matter and determine whether improvements can be made in the way tourist guides disseminate information and represent place.
