dc.description.abstract | The goal of this research is to investigate the potential for creating a stand-alone mapping system for the Igliniit Project. An original application, called the “Igliniit Viewer” has been developed as proof of concept. Programmed in Java, with the aid of the GeoTools open source Java GIS toolkit, this application enables the local Inuit people of Baffin Island to create maps from Igliniit data with the minimum of fuss and without the need for technical GIS skills. | en |
