There's no point going on - visualising qualitative data
"Journey to the Centre of the Worth" is the follow-up to " Exactly Which Part of What We do in Higher Education is Not Employability?". This is the graphic representation of the emergent themes from that discussion. The poster was presented at the Heroes & Monsters Higher Education Academy Arts & Humanities Conference at The Lowry, MediaCityUK, Salford in 2014. It is unusual in being not only an academic poster but also the terminal output from research - it uses graphic design to convey the research and its findings. The abstract from the conference outlines its intention. A series of postcards accompanied the poster, with a common back design and eight different front designs, each a one-to-one scale extract from the full A0-size poster. The design represents the top emergent themes from the source discussion - 'dissonances' and 'twists & turns' shining-out. Thus, the twenty five interwoven labyrinths each tell a professional life journey within arts & humanities. En-masse they create a 'meta-labyrinth' in which the life journeys emerge in one place at one time for one purpose... but for only 90 minutes.
