Body measurements such as WHR, WCR, BUR, LBR, BMI, along with composite masculinity factors and facial/body fluctuating asymmetry were used to examine the possible correlation between measures of narcissism and SPMS with physical attractiveness. The results showed gender differences between narcissism, SPMS and physical measures associated with attractiveness. For both genders, narcissism scores correlated positively with body measures which indicate physical attractiveness. Though men seem to be more prone to vanity compared with women as their narcissism scores correlated positively with SPMS; whereas for women, the correlations were insignificant. Women tend to have a more accurate measure of self-perceived attractiveness as their SPMS scores correlated negatively with body fluctuating asymmetry; whereas in men, SPMS correlated positively with fluctuating asymmetry and negatively with measures of masculinity. In addition for men, WHR seemed to play a mediating role in the relationship between narcissism and SPMS; however, due to the small sample size, the likelihood that this is a false positive interaction is high. Overall it seems that narcissism is associated with attractive body features, indicating that narcissists are likely to be more attractive compared with their non-narcissistic counter parts.
