Abstract

Artists Johanna Linsley and Rebecca Louise Collins are working with Newcastle-based composer Mariam Rezaei to develop a new piece of music based on overheard voices, conversations, and sounds in Seaham, East Durham. The short story was written in response to a request from Rezaei. Printed versions of the pamphlet were distributed at the live performance event held at Roobarb n' Custard Cafe in Seaham on 8, May 2016. The project is supported using public funds from Arts Council England, with further support from East Durham Creates and Helix Arts. We are also very grateful for the help and participation of the East Durham Artist Network, the Seaham Town Council and everyone at the Seaham Library. Stolen Voices is an ongoing inquiry into eavesdropping, currently based in Seaham, East Durham. Learn more from the project website: www.yourstolenvoice.com A book publication 'Sonic Detection: A Polygraph' is forthcoming with punctum books.
