Visualizing the change of human mobility to national government measures and its compliance during COVID-19 in high-risk local authorities of England

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is still a severe public health issue around the world, including England. This research was aimed to examine the relationship between the cases growing and mobilities of people during the second national lockdown of England. Firstly, it has examined the cases spatial distribution among all local authorities in England, then used hotspot analysis to find local authorities with higher risks (HRLA), regarded them as the research main focus. Secondly, cases data from England Official Government have been manipulated to indicate the growing pattern for all HRLA. Thirdly, several types of mobilities from Google Mobility have been measured through high-risk local authorities, and their relationship with cases growing patterns were discovered using regression analysis.

Results indicated that both cases and mobilities were reduced in certain period of time especially during the second national lockdown, however the relationship between mobilities and case growing was not obvious.
