Distributing the definite place name Gazetteer for Scotland: lessons from counties participating in the INSPIRE directive?

Abstract

In this paper gazetteers from European countries participating in the INSPIRE directive are examined concerning how and by who are maintained and how they are distributed. Possible ways of distribution for The Definite Place Name Gazetteer for Scotland are examined and also uses for the before mentioned gazetteer are suggested.
