dc.description.abstract
The control of bovine tuberculosis in East Africa and. particularly in Uganda has received, very little attention although the presence of the disease was already known in the early part of the century.
Literature on the history, and the present world tuberculosis situation is discussed. The epidemiology of tuberculosis and the role played by the wildlife and species other than cattle are reviewed. The literature on the incidence and prevalence of bovine tuberculosis in East Africa and Africa is reviewed with particular emphasis on bovine tuberculosis in Uganda. The literature on the control measures which have been applied to reduce the prevalence of tuberculosis infection is discussed. Discussions and recommendations are made with regard to the control of the disease, with special reference to Uganda.
