As tourism continues to develop, people are increasingly focused on the experience of the journey. With the popularity of mobile devices and 5G networks, people are getting information in a variety of ways, and the problems of traditional forms of tourism are becoming increasingly apparent, such as poor flexibility, single form of information presentation and poor user experience. In response to these problems and the diverse needs of today's users, the application of AR technology to tourism is proposed, which can present a fusion of virtual and real worlds on mobile display devices, where information can be expressed in different media forms and superimposed on the real world as a complement to the user's perception and understanding of the real environment. This paper uses Hadrian's Wall as an object of study, combining LBS technology and AR to develop an IOS-based AR Tour Guide, which is dedicated to optimizing the tourist experience at Hadrian's Wall and changing the way tourists gather and access information during their journey, thus enabling destinations to create a personalised, context-aware tourism experience. The software allows users to get real-time guided tour information pushed to them as they enter the tour area. The AR feature allows users to clearly see the location and distance to other points of interest, while users can view their current location in the map interface and get full information on the points of interest. Further research is intended to apply AR Cloud to seamlessly integrate the virtual world with the real world, giving visitors a sense of immersion and increasing the interest of the tour.
