Abstract

The bacterial flora of Laminaria is investigated. The bacteria were isolated from stacked weed, fresh cast weed, submerged plants and sea water in the vicinity. Experiments followed with plants in tanks and in stacks which were inoculated with selected isolates. The results of physiological tests and microscopical examination showed that the bacteria isolated from the four sources and the inoculated weed could be placed in IX Groups with variants in these Groups. The estimated size of the Group populations and of the number of different Groups present in stacked weed showed modification when certain inocula were used.
