Improve the way geographical pictures are depicted in the Gazetteer for Scotland
Abstract
This study designed and implemented a photo management system with data processing and geo-location capabilities to meet the needs of the Gazetteer for Scotland (GFS) for categorising, managing and retrieving photo data. The system optimises the database structure, creates new media tables and extracts geolocation information from EXIF data to provide geographic details of untagged photos. In terms of technical implementation, Perl was used to generate HTML pages, combined with JavaScript and Leaflet libraries for user interaction and visualisation of geographic coordinates. The test results show that the system effectively enhances the efficiency of data entry and management and improves the user experience. The study also compares the differences in the accuracy of geolocation information between different devices, providing a reference for device selection.
