Artificial pneumothorax. A critical review of the indications for and results of treatment

Abstract

Lung collapse, first advocated more than a century and a half ago, is now firmly established as a valuable measure in the treatment of pulmonary disease.
The main object of this investigation has been to attempt to assess the value of artificial pneumo- thorax treatment and to study the effects of collapse therapy in a number of cases in which this treatment has been carried out.
