Design and use of equipment for modern techniques in testing cables for insulation and related characteristics

Abstract


This thesis is based. on the results of three years laboratory-work in the Heriot-Watt ColIege, Edinburgh, in the Research and Test Departments of W. T. Henley s Cable works in Woolwich and Gravesend, and the author s own experiments and designs. Its purpose is to discuss some aspect of the testing of dielectries, with particular reference to cables.
In plan the Work opens with a note a concepts of the nature of dielectrics and a description of dielectrics and testing methods.
The next chapters cover testing equipment, and the final chapter presents some experimental results.
