The importance of medicine in aviation: with special reference to the medical examination of naval aircrews and to some aspects of civil aviation

Abstract

This thesis is based on twenty months work with flying personnel in the Royal Navy, during the relative inactivity of post-war Service flying. During this time I was able to see some of the effects of hazardous flying during the war as well as to get a fair picture of conditions of peacetime flying.
