Some suggestions for adapting group and pair work techniques in teaching English as a second language in Tanzania

Abstract

English is regarded as a second language in Tanzania for it is the major language of law, government, education, business and industry. It is important that it is a compulsory subject in the curriculum - from primary to tertiary education level. The central point for discussion will be on the class management problem created with whole class instruction in a communicative approach.
